Laboratory
Matsunaga Electromagnetic Wave Laboratory
Our laboratory studies antennas, electromagnetic wave propagation, sensing and wireless applications. Our work spans microwave, millimeter-wave and terahertz frequencies, combining theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental evaluation.
We seek to understand electromagnetic phenomena and translate that understanding into technologies for communication, measurement and sensing.
Research Themes
- Antenna design and evaluation, including slot and broadband antennas
- Electromagnetic wave propagation analysis
- Radar and sensing technologies
- Wireless applications, including 5G, 6G and IoT
- Nondestructive measurement and internal structure estimation using electromagnetic waves
Learning and Research in the Laboratory
Students build a foundation in electromagnetic theory while developing practical engineering skills through design, analysis and evaluation. Research projects provide opportunities to define problems, investigate possible solutions and assess the results.
